| BAKERSFIELD, California -- In spite of a poor qualifying run that
placed him in the 22nd starting position, Ryan Foster worked his way through the field to
finish 8th in the Rialto Concrete Products 100 at Mesa Marin on May 14th. After competing in 3 of the 4 Autozone Southwest Series races
this season, Foster has moved into 14th position in overall points and is solidly in the
lead for Sunoco Rookie of the Year. In his first two appearances, Ryan finished 7th at
Mesa Marin, after starting 23rd, and 5th at Stockton 99, coming from the 11th starting
position.
This father / son racing team is no stranger to competitive
late model tour racing or Mesa Marin Raceway. Foster ran the last two seasons in Davey
Hamiltons Wild West Shootout SRL late-model series. In the two seasons, he captured
the Rookie of the Year title, won 17 top-10s, 13 top-5s and 4 wins, including
one at Mesa Marin last season.
Running on a race-to-race basis, with a limited budget, Ryan and his team are working
hard to make their mark in this very competitive series. With two top-10s and one
top-5 finish, along with two hard charger awards for gaining the most
positions in a single race, Ryan Foster is proving to be a strong competitor and one to
watch. |
