PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RYAN FOSTER RETURNS TO A FAMILIAR TRACK, NOW WITH RICHARD CHILDRESS AND GOLDEN
GATE RACING
Local Altamont fans will certainly recognize Ryan Foster as he returns this weekend in his
new ride. The Grand National West Rookie will be seated in the #21 Golden Gate Racing
Chevrolet for this 3rd race of the new NASCAR Series. Foster and the #21 team heads into
Altamont following a strong showing at Phoenix where both Foster and teammate Tim
McCreadie had successful runs. Now, 4th in overall points and 1st in Rookie points, Foster
has high expectations for his return to one of his favorite tracks, one that has a
sentimental attachment.
When asked about his feelings for this weekend, Foster had only excitement to express. He
explained that he could not have made it this far without help from many people along the
way. As a way to honor several of these folks Foster offered, "The race at Altamont
this weekend is a really a tribute to several people, Jim Offenbach - my car owner, Steve
Portenga - our crew chief and Richard Childress." "Both Jim and Richard have put
a lot of faith in me and Steve has worked very hard to get me a winning car, in return I
intend to win for them".
At the end of 2006 Childress picked up the Northern California racer to run the 21
car, by coincidence the same number Ryan has had throughout his entire racing career; a
career starting at age 8 and spanning Outlaw Dirt Sprint Karts, Legends and Late Models -
with championships at all levels. At age 16 Foster made his Late Model debut at Altamont
where he qualified fast time and won the Trophy Dash. Such success gives this track a
sentimental significance to Foster. Altamont has always been one of my favorite
places to run and I am very excited about returning to this track with such a great car
and team. says Foster.
Foster attributes much of his success at Altamont, to the late Jeff Anthony, an Altamont
track champion and crowd favorite. Being a young driver I looked up to Jeff. He
taught me so much about racing, especially how to run the best lines at Altamont, and just
being a good competitor in general. He was an outstanding driver who is greatly missed.
said Foster. He will surely be thinking of Jeff Anthony as he straps in for the run, and
knows that a good finish would honor the memory of his mentor.
The extended television coverage, including live broadcasts of the entire series on HD Net
and enhanced presentations on SPEED, has been an extra boon for the sponsors who make the
whole thing possible. As always, Ryan is very grateful to his sponsors, including this
race's Spotlight Sponsor, Chase Chevrolet, Hill's Meats, IPS Global, Roto-Rooter, FoodComm
International, Corte Madera Tow, and many other generous companies and individuals.
This weekend at the Altamont Motorsports Park, the Ryan Foster Fan Club will be giving
away two Three Day Passes to the Save Mart 300 Nextel Cup Race Event, June 22-24 at
Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA.
